Champion Black, Brown, and Indigenous innovators in the US in scaling their solutions and establish your organization as a leader in social impact.

Supporting Equitable Futures in the US since 2018

Solve’s focus on the world’s most pressing challenges has always included those within the United States. Since 2018, we have specifically supported solutions focused on equity and self-determination for underserved and underestimated communities in the US. This portfolio started with the Indigenous Communities Fellowship, now in its sixth year, and expanded with the 2021 Antiracist Technology in the US Challenge—a response to 2020’s protests in the wake of George Floyd’s murder. In 2022, Solve introduced the Black & Brown Innovators in the US Program to identify proximate innovators working on racial equity across all our Global Challenges and help correct for a racist history that limits access to opportunity and capital.

With these programs, we aim to create a space for collaboration and dialogue among culturally diverse and equity-focused innovators, while building a community that learns from and supports these innovators as part of their own work on antiracism and decolonization.

"It’s very hard to gain footing when it’s representation in someone else's system and they have power there. We need to lead our own solutions for our own communities, and this looks like different things for all of us."

Fostering Proximate Entrepreneurship

Through open innovation competitions ('Challenges'), Solve aims to find the most promising proximate innovators–those who are a member of an underserved community or are guided by and accountable to them. These individuals are the best equipped to develop solutions that will have lasting and sustainable effects. Through two US-focused programs, we offer culturally sensitive coaching, connections, and programming, including an annual US Summit. These programs work to support innovation from and for Black, Brown, and Indigenous communities - and we hope you will join us in this work.
